From Port Dickson To Petaling Jaya

Seh Hui Leong

Life

Rewinding back to Thursday as we went to Port Dickson (it’s one of Malaysia’s popular tourist destination, once popular for its beautiful beaches). This time we have even more people joining the fun, 10 to be exact: Sze Hau, Sook Lan and her husband, Hui Ying, Francis, Seng Yaw and his girlfriend, Yuen Hui and her brother and myself.

It’s around noon when Hui Ying, Francis and myself gathering at A&W near my place, waiting for Sze Hau to drive us there. It’s pretty surprising to see Sze Hau looking a little bit different after his one week vacation to Korea: he seems to look more handsome and cheerful than before. Somehow I really wonder whether is it just me or it’s my… umm, distorted mental image playing games …

Corpse Bride

Seh Hui Leong

Life

Went out with Jacob, Melody and Hui Ling today to watch Corpse Bride today.

It’s really a great movie to watch. There’s nothing really new to the storyline, what’s really refreshing about it is most of main plot and transitions are performed in song — It’s almost like watching a musical or sorts. So instead of most animated features that songs seems to be like fillers, the songs in the movie has a lot of substance, which almost conveys a lot of information, dialogue and mood to the film.

Not to mention the puns, funny wordplay and the coordinating verbal and visual humour (mostly in the world of the dead scenes) the production team has put in. Some are really smart that I really laugh a lot at it.

And the love …

One Step Closer To Completion

Seh Hui Leong

Life

Almost got the final, finishing touches to get all my needed software installed. Then my Linux system will be as good as my Windows system :).

Bwee~ This is exciting :), I’m bi-OS-literate :p.

Anyway, still pretty indecisive whether I should buy myself a notebook hard drive portable casing, a drawing tablet, an SEB CD that I wanted or a webhosting package. It’s really hard to decide because I had a notebook hard drive lying around piling dust (ever since my notebook died last year), I always wanted a graphic tablet so that I can do more computer art, my Eurobeat obsession needs to be fulfilled (Hah! Sucker!) and I wanted to host my future site up.

Hmm… priorities, priorities…

But anyway, probably I might get a webhost this month, and see whether …

Stringing Things Together

Seh Hui Leong

Life

Been spending the whole day yesterday getting things to work in Linux. Currently it can access to the Internet, playing my DVDs and MP3s, as well as doing most stuff that I can think of at the moment.

To describe the whole experience, well… it really reminds me of those Windows 95 days when I want to do anything beyond what it is intended to do. But it’s not that hard once you got the hang of it.

Hmm… Still working on getting everything installed. 😊 Probably by then, I’d become a Linux convert? 😛

Connecting From Linux :)

Seh Hui Leong

Life

It’s very excruciating, but finally I got my Linux to talk to the Internet! v(T^T)v

Proof: (or more like a proof that I had done it before ^^”)

'Linux Proof'

Woohoo… now the next challenging task is to get my MP3s, DVDs and videos playing… ^^||||…

Starting Afresh

Seh Hui Leong

Life

Nothing much happening these days, just me with the same workload (umm… me being workaholic?).

Been spending some time doing some computer spring cleaning, considering how cripple my WindowsXP has become after having myself screwing up my computer settings :p. Somehow it’s kind of a soothing experience seeing that the computer is being setup in an ideal environment with no clutter at all. But seriously I do need to do the same to my data partition with all my MP3, videos, photographs and other junk :p.

Installed Fedora Core 4 (Linux) as well :). I seriously thinking of converting to Linux as my main OS, the only thing now is that before that is being realised, I have to setup tons of stuff… some as basic as getting my modem installed and getting my Internet …

About You

Seh Hui Leong

Life

Finally I got round to type the lyrics of About You, and gosh it took me quite a lot of time doing dictionary work x_x”.

Today seems to be a normal day as usual, just that I’m missing their presence around here, especially Sze Hau.

Well… at least I have something to look forward to. I really hoped that they had a great time over there :).

A Long Lost Friend

Seh Hui Leong

Life

Somehow by some unexpected turn of events, I consider myself very fortunate to get hold of Chi (aka SeraphicLaw in RPGamer message board, or drifting_floe in LJ). From the people I have known from the Internet, he’s probably one of the kindest and most soft-spoken friend that I had. He used to be very active online before he suddenly disappeared from the Internet in general. …Although “disappear” is not a good word to use, considering that he did made an announcement about it. But somehow we didn’t expect him not showing up in the Internet for so long — about three years, to be exact.

Guess that he did manage to pull the plug off, a sign of self control that I really admire him for.

Coming back, it’s really great to hear …

Computer Related Rants: Update

Seh Hui Leong

Life

As mentioned, the combo drive is picky with what it reads. The good news is that I accidentally found out that it is pretty sensitive to the beginning tracks of the CD (for non-techie people, it means the inner circle of the CD), so a quick wipe or two pretty much solves the problem :).

Yay for that! 😄

In other news, I reformatted my PC after having myself screwing up the whole system a few months ago. Still in the process of installing stuff. Probably that would take me about a week or two.

Rant Mode: Computer-related Rants

Seh Hui Leong

Life

Let’s see…

Getting some computer stuff today, a replacement USB cable for my card reader and one stack of CDRs. And the biggest frustration is that my card reader doesn’t like the new cable I bought, and my combo drive refuses to recognise the CDRs I bought! p(>_<)q

Argh!!!!

Luckily that the replacement cable I bought is one of those multi-purpose USB cables that you can fit different connectors to connect to different devices. Apparently plugging the card reader directly to the connector works. So that’s a good thing. Still checking out whether there’s a firmware upgrade for my combo drive… (update: No, it still doesn’t work, but apparently my combo drive is really picky on what it reads… ._.)

Gah… It does seems that I always have …
