Recently found myself overwhelmed by expectations: mostly those of my own. Recently been reading, listening and watching stuff from successful people via blogs, articles, books, podcasts and webcasts. So much in fact that I felt quite overwhelmed, in a way.

It quite funny in the sense that when your eyes are much more open once you listen to the more enlighten spots that people had reached, it’s hard not to feel a bit… ummm, small? ^-^|| Like, at some point the feeling of being inferior sort of kicks in and makes me anxious and impatient to get into the spot of “being successful”, even though I’d admit now that the definition of “success” is more like “whatever they had achieved”. For one thing there’s nothing wrong about wanting what people have had right …

It’s that time of the year again :), wishing everyone a happy Chinese New Year!

As usual, take this as a hiatus notice until February (though I have been blogging more sparsely these day). I do have my Eee PC with me so should my creative writing thinking cap was on, you can expect some great content and insights from me ;).

“Look! A helium balloon!” I said to myself as I was distracted from my reading.

It was yesterday as I was waiting for quite some time for my bus to arrive at night. Typically to make good use of time I’ll open up my book which I brought with me and start to flip through the pages. Usually I find myself having to take reading breaks more often as the mixture of the cool hues of fluorescent lights and the orange hues from the street lamps behind makes my eyes easily weary.

Today I have shared this concept with one of my friends about the limited value of income as opposed to time, which is the tombstone principle of time management or personal development ideology.

I used the concept as presented by [Timothy Ferriss][4hww] in various talks to illustrate one application of your own hourly rate. I think the illustration would be starking enough to rethink about your concept of income and working overtime. (also as a very good reminder to myself :))

A month ago, I’m lucky to receive a 24” monitor to be used with my current laptop at work. Having heard about the raves of productivity increment of a multi-monitor setup first from the [late Randy Pausch’s (of “The Last Lecture” fame) Time Management lecture][timemgt], I was quite excited with the prospect of getting that productivity boost. As it turns out, having two monitors is just the first step - Knowing how to effectively use the setup is one that I have spent quite some time to experiment to get it right and starting to notice the convenience and improvement gains.

And finally, the revamp that I have been holding off for so long: felixleong.com is now revived. Spent almost the whole Christmas to port my old manga tutorial up. Now having that up, it’s time to focus on my next small project :).

As part of the revamp exercise, I have ported my manga tutorials over to this new site. For one thing I’m greatly grateful is the fact that the time I invested in clean HTML does really pay off at times like this. Hence porting stuff over was a breeze without worrying about HTML clutter.

Saying so, I still need to do some minor tweaks - hopefully completing them by today and continue with my other personal projects soon :).
